We hope the world be filled with nico.
The word "nico" is derived from the Japanese word "niko" (smile) and has the same meaning as the smiley face, the so-called Nicochan mark. The smiley face was originally expressed in the 20th century, mainly in American multimedia, using the smiley face symbol to present the idea that "happiness is smiling". In the same vein, “nico” is a wish for " the world to be filled with smiling faces (= nico) ".
We believe that creating and expressing things is one of the factors for happiness.
We believe that just writing something down, thinking something in your mind, or saying what you think is creative.
We call those who express nico and give shape to something "nico mello" as imaginary creators.
Everyone who works with us is a member of nico mello.
As a symbol of nico's way of thinking, we have created a character named nico chan, a girl.
nico chan fills the world with smiles.
We, nico design, produce everything and help people to make things.
We want to have various relationships with all kinds of people around the world through manufacturing.
And as a symbol of happiness that goes beyond smiley faces, we will continue to introduce nico to the world.

-世界がnicoであふれますように-
nicoとは日本語のにこにこ（笑顔）からつくった言葉で、スマイリーフェイス、いわゆるニコちゃんマークと同じ意味を表します。もともとスマイリーフェイスは、20世紀に主にアメリカのマルチメディアで表現され、笑顔のマークを用いて「幸せとは笑顔でいること」とという考え方を提示しました。同様の考え方で、 “nico” という言葉には「世界に笑顔(=nico)が溢れるように」という願いが込められています。
その上で、わたしたちはモノをつくり、表現することが幸せのひとつの要因だと信じています。
「モノをつくる」といっても、そんなたいそうなことではなく、何かを書きとめたり、頭の中で何かを考えたり、何か思ったことを発することだけでも、モノづくりであり、クリエイティブなことだと考えています。
何かを表現して形にする人を、我々はnico melloという架空のクリエーターとして名づけていています。
わたしたちと一緒にものつくりをする人は皆んなnico melloの一員です。
またnicoの考え方の象徴として、キャラクター化したものがnico chanという女の子になります。
nico chan は世界を笑顔でいっぱいにします。
そして、すべてをプロデュースして、人々のモノづくりのお手伝いをするのが、わたしたちnico designです。
世界中のあらゆる人たちと、モノつくりを通してさまざまな関わり合いをもち、
スマイリーフェイスを超える幸せの象徴として、私たちはnicoを世界に発信し続けます。
